Through participation in Honours Special Studies the student will be able to study a topic of their own selection, in depth, and will be provided with an opportunity to develop a variety of analytical and transferable skills.
The topics have been chosen to provide scope for advanced study and student-centred learning relevant to all of our degree schemes, and to provide a teaching link with the research expertise of the lecturers involved.
Lectures, seminars, and workshops will be provided as appropriate. However, the emphasis will be on student centred learning and students will be expected to research their own material using library and database sources, examine and critically assess primary research literature, and produce group and individual reports as well as making oral presentations.
Each student is required to study one topic in either semester, unless their degree scheme dictates otherwise.
A student's assessed work subject in Honours Special Studies must be different to that researched in their Final Year Project BS32930.
